Mascot Memorial Park

Delivered in collaboration with Elec Comm Services and Light Project NSW, this lighting upgrade for Bayside Council formed part of the Her Way project, helping create a safer and more welcoming public space for women and girls after dark.

Designed for Safety After Dark

The project focused on improving visibility, safety, and atmosphere within Mascot Memorial Park at night. The aim was to create a space that felt both functional and inviting, supporting safer community use after sunset.

Complex Site Conditions

With the park located close to Sydney Airport, the lighting design required careful control to ensure it would not interfere with aviation operations. The exterior setting also called for robust solutions, including metal enclosures and components that could meet demanding site-specific performance requirements.

Smart Lighting Control

A key feature of the upgrade was the installation of DMX controllable lighting. To deliver seamless integration and control, Afterglow Controls used CasDMX modules, along with a timer backup and Casambi ASD. This setup triggers the dynamic lighting show in sync with the existing photoelectric cell, ensuring the park is illuminated at the right time each evening.

The Result

The result is a beautifully lit public park that improves safety, supports visibility, and creates a more welcoming atmosphere for the wider community. Afterglow Controls was proud to contribute to the Her Way project and work alongside Bayside Council on an outcome with real local impact.
